Rich and Savory Miso Ramen
Experience the bold flavors of homemade miso ramen, featuring a savory ground meat broth base, perfectly chewy noodles, and classic chashu pork.
Miso ramen is renowned for its deep, complex flavor profile, often described as the soul of comfort food in Japanese cuisine. This preparation uses a savory stir-fried meat base enriched with aromatic garlic and fermented miso paste to create a broth that is both hearty and deeply satisfying.
Ingredients
- 150 g minced pork
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp cooking wine
- 1 tbsp mirin
- 1 tbsp miso paste
- 500 ml water
- 1/2 tsp MSG
- 1 serving ramen noodles
- optional chashu pork
- optional bean sprouts
- optional ajitsuke soft-boiled egg
- optional chopped green onion
Instructions
- 1Stir-fry the meat

Heat a small amount of sesame oil in a pot. Add the minced meat and stir-fry using chopsticks until the meat changes color and is browned.
Tip: Keep the heat medium to ensure the meat browns evenly without burning. - 2Sauté meat and aromatics

Add minced garlic, cooking wine, mirin, and miso paste to the browned minced meat in the pan. Stir the mixture thoroughly to ensure the seasonings are well incorporated and the flavors meld together.
Tip: Keep the heat at medium to prevent the garlic from burning while allowing the miso to caramelize slightly. - 3Add water for the soup base

Pour 500ml of water into the pot containing the seasoned minced meat. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for two minutes on low heat to develop the broth.
Tip: Using warm water can help bring the broth back to a simmer faster. - 4Season the broth

After simmering the broth for two minutes, sprinkle a small amount of MSG into the pot to enhance the savory flavor of the soup base.
Tip: Adjust the amount of seasoning according to your personal taste preference. - 5Cook the ramen noodles

Boil the ramen noodles in a separate pot of water until they reach your desired texture. Use chopsticks to stir the noodles occasionally to prevent them from sticking together.
Tip: Follow the package instructions for the recommended boiling time to achieve the perfect texture.
