Celebrate fig season with this gorgeous sweet and savory appetizer featuring warm baked figs, creamy labneh or goat cheese, salty prosciutto, and a glossy balsamic glaze drizzle.
When fresh figs come into season, pairing them with salty cured meats and creamy cheeses is one of the ultimate culinary pairings. This simple yet elegant preparation balances the natural honeyed sweetness of warm figs with rich cheese, savory prosciutto, and a tangy balsamic finish.
Ingredients
- 8 whole fresh figs
- 4 slices prosciutto
- 4 tbsp Turkish labneh or goat cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1-2 tbsp honey or grape molasses
- 1 pinch red pepper flakes
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 1-2 tsp balsamic glaze
Instructions
- 1Cut the fresh figs

Place fresh figs on a wooden cutting board and use a sharp knife to cut each one cleanly in half.
Tip: Ensure your knife is sharp to avoid bruising the delicate fruit. - 2Hollow out the center

Take a metal spoon and gently scoop out a small hollow portion from the center of each cut fig half to create space for the filling.
Tip: Do not scoop too deeply, or you might puncture the bottom of the fig. - 3Fill with cheese

Spoon or spread a dollop of white labneh cheese or goat cheese into the hollowed-out centers of the fig halves.
Tip: Cream cheese or goat cheese can also be used as a substitute for labneh. - 4Add prosciutto

Take slices of salty prosciutto, fold them slightly, and place them securely on top of the cheese-filled figs.
Tip: Folding the prosciutto helps it crisp up nicely during baking. - 5Arrange in baking dish and drizzle oil

Arrange all the assembled fig and prosciutto pieces in a white baking dish and drizzle olive oil evenly over them.
Tip: A light, even drizzle ensures the edges roast evenly in the oven. - 6Season and garnish

Add honey or grape molasses, a sprinkle of red pepper flakes, and fresh rosemary sprigs to the baking dish before placing it in the oven.
Tip: Bake at 180 degrees for 10 minutes, then finish with a drizzle of balsamic glaze. - 7Bake the Stuffed Figs

Place the baking dish filled with the prepared stuffed figs into an oven preheated to 180 degrees. Bake them for 10 minutes until the cheese is warm and the prosciutto is slightly crispedcite: 1.
Tip: Keep an eye on the oven to ensure the prosciutto doesnt over-crisp or burn. - 8Add Balsamic Glaze

Remove the baking dish from the oven once the baking time is completecite: 1. While still warm, drizzle a little bit of balsamic glaze over the baked figs to add an extra layer of rich flavorcite: 1.
Tip: Balsamic glaze provides a wonderful sweet and tangy contrast to the salty prosciutto and sweet figs.
